Oracle Journal & Verdict Explained – PoE2 Build Analysis | Path of Codex

You know that feeling of being level 60, deep in the endgame, not sure if your build is on the right track — or if you've already made a mistake that's going to cost you later?

The problem we wanted to solve

Path of Exile 2 is forgiving at the start. You kill, you level, you equip what drops. The build keeps working.

The problem starts when that cycle slows down — around level 50 and beyond, when item swaps become less frequent, Passive Tree mistakes become expensive to fix, and every progression decision carries real weight.

This is where most players stop and think:

"Is my build actually good? Am I heading in the right direction? What do I need to fix before spending more currency?"

There's no one inside the game to answer that.

That's exactly the moment the Oracle was built for — and it's a core part of the Path of Codex Season 0.5 update.

Oracle Journal

Oracle Journal and Oracle Verdict interface showing progression insights and build analysis in Path of Exile 2
The Oracle tracks your progression over time and translates complex build analysis into clear, contextual guidance.

The Oracle Journal is a chronological record of your character's evolution.

Each entry is generated automatically when the Oracle detects a relevant change — an item swap, a passive respec, a league phase shift, or a Build Oracle Score update.

It's not a generic daily report: it's an analysis of your character at the exact moment something changed.

Over time, this creates something more valuable than isolated insights — a continuous narrative of your progression, also reflected in your Timeline.

Here's a real entry:

"First analysis complete. The Oracle has identified this build as Developing — Endgame phase."

"1 critical issue detected. Address these before investing in further upgrades."

"Return after your next gear upgrade or passive respec to track evolution."

Three lines. Each one answers a different question: where you are, what needs attention now, and when to come back.

The tone is deliberate. The Oracle doesn't hand you a spreadsheet of problems — it speaks to you like an advisor who understands both your character and the context of the game.

If something in an entry feels off, you can say so directly. That feedback feeds into improving the system for everyone.

Oracle Verdict

The Oracle Verdict is the full contextual reading of your character.

It doesn't just look at isolated numbers. It connects your level, ascendancy, gear, Passive Tree, league phase, and even the state of the market — and from that, defines your character's build identity.

Some players want a fast, readable signal. Others want a deep structural breakdown. That is why the Verdict is separated into two modes.

Simple Mode

Simple Mode focuses on clarity — highlighting what your build does well, where it struggles, and what deserves attention first.

Simple Mode is designed for clarity.

It gives you a focused reading of your build without overwhelming you with complexity — highlighting strengths, weaknesses, progression risks, and what deserves attention first.

The goal is straightforward: help you understand whether your build is healthy, and what direction to take next.

Pro Mode

Pro Mode expands the analysis into a deeper structural read — exposing scaling, survivability, optimization, and build direction.

Pro Mode expands the analysis into a much deeper structural breakdown.

This is where the Oracle exposes scaling behavior, survivability gaps, passive efficiency, optimization issues, and priority fixes ranked by impact.

A build that appears strong on the surface may still carry hidden structural weaknesses — and Pro Mode is where those details become visible.

The intelligence behind the analysis is the same as Simple Mode. Only the depth of presentation changes.

Context matters more than raw numbers

In the example above, the detected archetype was Developing.

That is not a negative judgment — it is a contextual classification. A Developing character in the Endgame phase has different priorities than a finished build optimized for high investment mapping or bossing. The Verdict understands that and adapts its recommendations accordingly.

Suggestions also carry priority levels. A critical issue — like uncapped resistances — has a very different weight than a secondary optimization opportunity. You don't have to guess what matters most.

And when something changes, the Notification Center ensures that important updates reach you at the right moment, without you having to check back constantly.

Why this matters

PoE2 punishes a lack of knowledge — not loudly, but at the worst possible moment.

You can reach the endgame with a build that technically works, but carries a structural flaw that only becomes visible when it's already expensive to fix.

The Oracle Journal and Verdict do not remove complexity. They give you clarity while you navigate it — and a reliable reference point as your build evolves.
