A build is not just what it is now.
It is what it has been becoming.
Most tools show only a current snapshot: your items, passives, stats, and score. Useful — but incomplete. Because a build is not defined only by its present state — it is also defined by its direction.
That is why we built Timeline — a core part of the Path of Codex Season 0.5 update.
Timeline makes your character's progression visible over time, organizing meaningful moments of your journey into a sequence you can actually read. Instead of relying on memory or scattered snapshots, you can see how your build evolved — and what changed along the way.

Why Timeline matters
In Path of Exile 2, progression is not always linear.
Some upgrades make you stronger. Others only look good on paper. Some changes help immediately, while others reveal their value only after several levels, item swaps, or passive adjustments.
Without context, it is easy to confuse change with improvement.
Timeline helps solve that by showing the path behind your current build. It helps answer questions like:

- When did my build actually improve?
- What changed before my Oracle Score moved?
- When did my defenses start falling behind?
- Am I progressing well, or just changing constantly?
Your build, as a journey
A meaningful build is not defined by one moment.
Timeline highlights relevant stages of your character's evolution, such as:
- Level progression
- Important stat improvements
- Oracle Score shifts
- Milestone upgrades
- Meaningful build changes
These events are not random. They are generated from the same system that powers the Oracle Journal & Verdict, which identifies when something important has actually changed in your build.
This turns progression into something readable — not just a history log, but a structured view of how your build got where it is now.
Better context for better decisions
Timeline is not just about looking back. It also helps with what comes next.
A build can look strong in one snapshot but still be moving inefficiently. Another build may look weaker now but be clearly improving in the right direction. Timeline gives context to those situations — helping you understand whether a change was actually progress, or just movement.
This becomes especially important when making decisions in Build Compare, where understanding when your build improved or regressed can change how you evaluate a potential switch.
A natural companion to Oracle
The Oracle evaluates your build. Timeline explains its evolution.
Score changes, verdict shifts, and structural weaknesses become easier to understand because you can trace when they started — and what triggered them.
And when something important changes, you don't need to constantly check back. The system surfaces those moments in real time through the Notification Center, while Timeline keeps the long-term record.
Because progress is much more useful when it is visible.
